as the stars that shall be bright when we are dust

BARNSLEY PALS WW1 MEMORIAL, Centenary Square, Barnsley, 2014

Commemorating the Barnsley Pals Battalions, imagery for the artwork’s three glass columns was inspired by material from the Barnsley Archives - soldier's diary entries, correspondence, official documents & newspaper reports. The text, translated into layers of frosted glass and mirror, works in a very visual way as well as offering food for thought, remembrance and contemplation. The light interacts with the glass, creating changing visual effects in different light conditions.
