ROKER LIGHTHOUSE

To celebrate the restoration of Roker Lighthouse, these glass artworks were commissioned by Sunderland City Council and given as gifts at the opening.

Fusing 12 layers of glass, the blocks included screen-printed images of architects plans, and water-jet cut coloured segments that spiral their way round the interior of the piece, reminiscent of the staircase inside the lighthouse. The edges are polished to allow a clear view of the interior, showing the printed and coloured layers.

Designed in collaboration with Adrian Riley
